Welcome to Katikati Primary School, a vibrant and caring learning community. At KKPS we strive for happy, engaged, motivated learners who recognise and build upon their own unique strengths. We are a friendly school where teachers are always available for you to catch up with and where all of our staff members are focussed on the children’s welfare, as well as their learning. We welcome parents and the wider community taking an active part in the life of the school. Cultural pedagogies are important to us as we have children of almost 20 different nationalities attending our school. We are committed to fostering bicultural partnerships with our Māori community and are proud of our whānau pod which focuses on tikanga and Te Reo Māori.
A combination of fun and hard work is used to reach our goals. Children are provided with a diverse range of experiences to engage them in their learning and to enable them to experience success. They can access awide variety of different opportunities academically and through sports, creative arts and cultural performance. Based in a beautiful, rural location we make the most of our setting to enhance our studies especially in science, environmental studies and history. We offer support for children who may need a little extra help with their learning, as well as challenges for those who want to push themselves.
Our core values are: Excellence, Respect, Integrity, Citizenship and Attitude. We hold high expectations of our children and have a reward scheme that the children love working towards. We are also proud of our houses, the children working together to earn points for their team.
We have a firm focus on the future, developing with the children the skills and attributes they are going to need as adults. Children are encouraged to be problem solvers, to collaborate with others and to be prepared to take risks with their learning. ICT is used as a tool to engage the children and to share what’s happening at school with parents. We recognise that success takes multiple forms and we want to give our children: the courage to try their best; the understanding that hard work brings success and the recognition that community is important and we all thrive when we look after one another.
We are very proud of our children, whānau and community. Visits to the school are always welcome. We hope to meet you in the near future.
Ngā mihi
